Sep. 20, 2011 (Washington, DC) - This past Sunday Rach Events hosted the first annual Wanamaker Wet Fest, the first in the series of Wanamaker parties being held by founder Jordan Wanamaker, in partnership with Rock the Vote and Metromix DC at the Yards Park on the Potomac in SE Washington, DC. The festival boasted twenty local and international DJ acts performing on two stages for hundreds of electronic music fans - a growing genre finding a growing following amongst the DC nightlife community.
The event, led by Master of Ceremonies Bianca Chardei of America's Next Top Model fame, celebrated one of the last warm days of the year and allowed access to the Yards public fountain and headlining performances by Sultan + Ned Shepard, Serge Devant and Tatiana Fontes that went well into the night. Other performances included Zenbi,
Kreamdip (Omar Karim & Steve DiPietro), Jubilee, Moh Ducis, Rainier, Boris Gluck, Atanas Danchik, Jason Ramsey, Dave Martin, Sanath Shetty, DJ Daniella, DJ Nugen, DJ Lookz, K-Funk.
Local talent was scouted and booked by Lush Promotions a premiere nightlife management and promotions company known for their connection to the regional music scene.
One highlight of the day's celebration of music included a runway model competition produced by Al Soto (Host & Producer for www.BelowTheBeltShow.com), with designer swimwear provided by east coast fashion retailer South Moon Under and makeup coordinated by FEM Artistry. The competition was judged by Taylor Schlette of South Moon Under, Christine Brooks Cropper, President of the Greater Washington Fashion Chamber of Commerce, Carlos Gray, Mayoral son and Brand Specialist for Ciroc Vodka,/Don Julio Tequila/Nuvo MKTG Inc. and Kate Michael, Former Miss DC and Founder of top local web site K Street Kate.
"There is a thriving and growing community of electronic music lovers taking root right now in Washington, DC. This festival showed a true collaboration between the artists, event producers and city itself that were all committed to bringing a new experience to the District that had never before been conceived," says Jordan Wanamaker, Founder of Rach Events.
The festival drew attention on a national scale as well, specifically from celebrated electronic music duo Dirty Vegas who tapped party goers to participate as rockin' extras in their upcoming new music video being filmed at H Street's Rock n' Roll Hotel in early October. Other elements brought even more activity to the festival such as a number of product vendors including BiKa swimwear (each piece handmade in India!), Pucho premium cigars, party pics by Metromix DC, Rita's Italian Ice, Vita Coco stand, Eat Wonky and Sauca food trucks on site, smartwater and four custom bars featuring the exclusive DC launch of Cocaine Energy Drink by local distributor Funxion and on-site voter registration organized by Rock the Vote.
