Bartending DC- Professional Bartending School of Arlington, VA

Because the Nation’s capital was ranked the number 1 city in alcohol consumption per capita – I think there might be some demand here if you want to learn a few cool drinks or even get certified!

Location
The Bartending School is located on:
2440 Wilson Blvd
Arlington, VA 22201
703 841 9700

The Bartending School is considered the premier bartending school in the Washington, DC area for over 40 years founded in 1968. Teaching is done by certified trainers who will show you step by step on what it takes to make a good drink. All skills are learned with real bottles but fake alcohol. It is colored coded water but the looks are realistic. I wouldn’t drink it though!

Facilities
·         Two offices dedicated to admissions, one office for the instructors and the students, an audio/visual room dedicated to watching the TAM video and holding job placement interviews, as well as a kitchen area for those students wanting to bring their own food.
·         A 36ft bar full of all the gadgets and gizmos you’ll need to shake, rattle, and roll!
·         Four full bars, with each bar containing all the liquors and liqueurs you will need to learn the basics of bartending.
·         10 bartending stations! Each station contains an ice well, fully functional soda gun, mixing set, ample supply of straws, sip sticks, muddlers, layering spoons and juices. We’ve got everything!
·         Killer surround sound system with Sirius Satellite Radio
·         Two commercial grade ice machines that produce over 800 lbs of ice each day

Price
The price is $595 including textbook, registration, and certification.
There is a cool special for April 2011: $75 off before the end of the month.
See their Facebook page to get an idea on how many of their students get real bartending jobs! 1200 jobs for 2010 graduating class. If you do decide to get certified this establishment has lifetime job placement assistance and free refresher classes. We have been operating for over

Certification
There are three tests students take. The TAM test (standardized test), Speed Test and Written Test. The speed test is to make 7 drinks in 12 minutes- you can probably try this one at homeJ

However, they have a Free Bartending Class to check out and come see how it is.

An ex-instructor is one of the best flair bartenders in the Washington, DC area and will teach students. Not only is he the CEO and founder of The Pour Boys (a local flair group that is commissioned by clubs throughout the area to give flair exhibitions), but is also the regional flair ambassador for the Flair Bartenders Association. He has also been invited to compete in several flair competitions throughout the country, including LEGENDS – the invitation-only, annual world flair bartending championship hosted in Las Vegas.

You have to be at least 18 years of age to attend. In VA and DC you have to be 21 in order to actually bartend. There are certain counties in Maryland (PG and Montgomery County, for example) that will allow persons 18+ to bartend.

There is no dress code, but remember your working with colored liquids and glass.
