Lucky Strike in Chinatown is part of an upscale bowling company that currently has 19 locations in the US. The Lucky Strike brand pays homage to Hollywood Star Lanes which closed in 2003, served Hollywood for 43 years and was home to the filming of “The Big Lebowski”.

It is 20 feet from the green/yellow metro stop -Gallery Place.

Lucky Strike has 14 bowling lanes, with 10 projection screens and a state of the art sound system.  It is open Sun-Thurs: 12PM - 1AM and Fri & Sat: 12PM-2AM. 

You must 21+ after 8PM M-Sun. After 8pm Lucky Strike turns into a disco bowling alley with large table seating and a long spacious bar across from the bowling lanes.

Lucky Strike is the one and only good public bowling alley in DC. The only other bowling alleys are located in the White House, which is not very convenient for a crazy party or last minute drinks, or at GWU where you have to be a student. In addition, most bowling alleys do not offer the lounge atmosphere that Lucky Strike provides.

Lucky Strike likes to target an older crowd at night, that surrounds dancing, drinking, and bowling. It is also a very popular place for watching sport games due to the 10 huge projection screens and was voted in 2007 as AOL's best date places. Lucky Strike also caters to larger groups usually 8-20 who are celebrating parties such as a: Special Event of 25 or more people, Adult Party of 8 - 20 people, Kids Party of 8 - 20 people, Bar or Bat Mitzvah, Bachelorette Party of 8 - 20 people, and a Bachelor Party of around 8 - 20 people. You then fill out a type of package you would want such as food and drink specials.

One of the great things about Lucky Strike is the liveliness that you don't find in many other places. When the lights go out, the music grows louder, and the bowling lanes illuminates with fluorescent blue lights the party can take a turn. It is like being at the disco, an atmosphere any age group can appreciate and enjoy.

Lucky Strike can get very crowded on the weekends. Especially between the hours of 8-11pm and you can expect to wait up to two to three hours sometimes. Therefore calling ahead and reserving is a smart idea if you don't wish to get wait and end up hitting the bar. However, find out because reservations are not always accepted.

Special Events:
Monday: All you can bowl for $15, and no hour reservation fees.
Friday and Saturday: A featured DJ spins music all night long.
Sunday:  Salsa dance lessons go on from 7-8pm, and then free dancing with partners until close.
