This gym differs from the DC Aikido gym which focused more on a holistic and cooperative approach. NOVA MMA allows you to use martial arts in a more competitive and combative environment to increase physical conditioning to reduce stress, improve focus and concentration, increase eye/body coordination, increase strength, stamina/flexibility. The classes here are designed to give you a killer workout, burning up to 800 calories in an hour. On Saturday when I was there, some students were training, but they were also having an outdoor cookout. One student said he loved this gym. He said he had lost 20 lbs and made friends he never would have met anywhere else.
The Nova MMA gym has three separate rooms. Two rooms are padded with mats for martial arts training and the third room has a workout gym.
Instructors:
Their top instructor: Suldbayar "Sugi" Damdin competed at the highest level of Judo - The 2004 Olympics. After doing Judo his entire life and competing in the Olympics, Sugi moved to the United States and is now sharing his wealth of knowledge with our students! Other instructors, are either professional or amateur fighters with many years of training. They have utilized techniques at the national and international level. Their NOVA MMA/ Team Lloyd Members won 4 National Titles and 2 Bronze Medals at the WKA National Championships for Submission Grappling.
